It is a CNS depressant which induces feelings of calm, drowsiness and sleep. They act by facilitating the binding of the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA at various GABA receptors throughout the CNS.

Dosage
To be taken strictly on the prescription of a doctor for the designated time in correct amounts.
In case of Overdose
Overdose symptoms include intoxication, somnolence, impaired balance, impaired motor function, anterograde amnesia, ataxia and slurred speech. Immediately seek medical treatment (antidotes flumazenil and naloxone) from a doctor in case of overdose
Missed Dose
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next scheduled dose then the missed dose can be skipped.
How To Use
Take this medicine with a full glass of water after meals or on an empty stomach
When Not to Use
Not recommended to take for:
- pregnant or nursing women
- people with depression or psychosis who have attempted suicide
- people with COPD, bronchitis or sleep apnea
- people with myasthenia gravis
Side Effects
Common side effects include:
- drowsiness
- fatigue and lethargy
At higher doses, side effects include
- slurred speech
- decreased motor coordination
- decreased blood pressure and breathing
- poor concentration
Precautions & Warnings
Practice caution as follows:
- Do not take with other sedatives, opiates or alcohol
- Do not stop treatment abruptly as it may cause withdrawal symptoms
- Never take more than prescribed
- Do not take before driving
Drug Interactions
Consult a doctor in case you are using:
- opiates
- clozapine
- fluvoxamine
- orlistat
- sodium oxybate
- haloperidol
Food Interactions
The food interactions that should be considered while using Bromazepam are:
- Avoid alcohol as it can enhance the sedative effects of the medication and increase the risk of side effects
- High-fat meals may slow down the absorption of the medication
- Grapefruit can potentially interact with the medication, so it’s best to consult your healthcare provider
